game day

hey, it’s Superbowl Sunday. You know, I really like pistachios. They are sort of like the oyster of nuts. I especially like them dry roasted and salted. They’re really salty on the outside, yet the meat of the pistachio is actually quite sweet. The opposing tastes go very well together. The best pistachios are the ones that are already bursting halfway out of their shells, like salty green tulips springing fresh from crusty bulbs.

speaking of oysters, I’m going to a friend’s (Shane’s) Superbowl party on James Island, where 3 bushels of oysters will be on hand for the consumption. It should be fun.

    cashews and sun flower seeds

cashews come in second, then sun flower seeds (shelled).

Although, I think I eat way more sun flower seeds.

I love sunflower seeds too, but they are not nuts. 🙂 Anyway, Happy Birthday mysticmoose!

  • I love shelled pistachios. You can just eat them by the handfull without having to slow down and take off the shell. Oh, that 500 g of fat per serving hits the spot;) But its the good fat!
